Welcome!

This little blog started on our wedding website, which kept family and friends up to date on the planning and details. Of course this is where we will provide all of the recaps of the wedding and everything after. We look forward to keeping family and friends up to date on our lives here in Texas and all of the adventures we share as newlyweds!

Oh Monday....

My Monday did not start out so great...the word that I hate hearing the most is "audit" usually this is just because it means Rene is working hour upon hour because that's what he does....I have listened to Rene complain about the companies that he has audited and how they don't get him the paperwork they need since he started with his company, and today his world met mine, well sort of.

Our company has been undergoing a lot of changes because of new corporate compliance rules, some of which are fine others which have made like life hell since the start in June....it all came to a head this morning though when I realized that our national director was out of the office as was the senior director who is next in line. I found myself and another manager looking at each other and our compliance team and feeling like we were going to throw up realizing that the auditor was in the office a full 2 weeks earlier than expected.

This idea of an audit it something new for our company, not even do the internal people know what or how to evaluate what we do because it is so different from every other sector of the company, however that didn't seem to matter to "the auditor" nor did it matter that we had never been told how we would be evaluated, or that half of the office and half of the people that we would need to contact for information are out of the office until at least next week and some until December!! Or the fact that for months we have been hearing that our audit date would be December...no none of that seemed to matter.

All that mattered today was that this auditor made my day completely full of stress and I felt like I got nothing at all accomplished, not the best way to start our a Monday....at least I have Thursday "off" right?

Here's hoping that the rest of the week has gt to start looking up....

Call Me a Kid....

I am so looking forward to the end of the work day today...why because of course Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows is playing at my favorite movie theatre The Inwood Theatre .

Let me just say that it is amazing and well worth the $10 general admission tickets....

Who wouldn't want to watch a movie and have it feel like you are watching at your home on our couch?
Add to the great seating with plenty of room to spread out that the Inwood Theatre has a full bar as well! Just like watching in your living room!

Now the day just needs to wind down a lot faster and 10:15pm needs to arrive a whole lot sooner so that I can enjoy my movie viewing!

Have a great weekend!

365 Days -- WOW that went fast!

Today we get to celebrate our "one year anniversary"! It is completely astonishing that it has been 365 days since we were married in front of family and friends in the middle of the Caribbean.

Nonetheless, the past year has been perfect in my eyes. Everyone told us that the first year of marriage would be the hardest, but I think that we had that living in Williamsburg because this past year was a piece of cake!

In the last year I have realized that Rene will always be there to cheer me up, let me complain, and give me a shoulder to cry on. He will never stop splashing water all over the counter in the bathroom when he washes his face…he will seldom remember to close the cupboards after taking a bowl out but at least he'll help put the dishes away, as long as I close the cupboards after.

He will always dress up with me for Halloween, and while he doesn't quite understand it will indulge me when I look at shoes and handbags far too expensive to buy.

He is the best travel companion and will make last minute trips with me just because the flights are on sale. He encourages me to do everything that I want to even when I doubt myself.

We can have fun on a random night out with friends or cuddled up on the couch with pizza and beer. He is just as happy to sit on a Saturday and watch cartoons while drinking coffee as I am. But the most important is that he's mine and I could not be happier!

I was worried that "marriage" was going to be hard or scary to get into…but it has been the opposite. The past year has flown by and I look forward to the many more to come. Happy Anniversary to the love of my life!

Rene was excited all days yesterday awaiting these results after watching UCF beat Houston on Friday night and then as all the pieces fell into place the rest of the day on Saturday leading to UCF going from "others receiving points" to officially being ranked!

Way to go UCF--We're proud to be KNIGHTS!

It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas -- Decorating Time!

OK so no the decorations won't be hanging up anytime soon -- I'll wait until the day after Thanksgiving....but I have completed my inspiration board for decorations this year. We will be going with a red and green classic theme. Now it is time to start crafting, I might even break out the sewing machine this year!

Dreaming of a White Christmas in November?

OK well maybe not a "white Christmas" but as of the start of November I have been trying to figure out what or rather how to decorate this Christmas (which will happen the day after Thanksgiving at the Blanco Home).
While I love our tree and how it is a collection of ornaments that we have received over the years my collection of Christmas decor is a bit of a mix and match group.
This year with the nice changes around the apartment in terms of decorating I have decided that I want to leave the tree as is but look to make a more uniformed decorating style.

So this week I have made it my goal to create some inspiration boards and layouts as to what I want to do around the apartment...then of course what craft projects I need to get started on!

Wonderful Weekend!

Rene and I had a great weekend this past weekend! Though we both decided this morning that after a weekend of so much fun we were exhausted! And we did fall asleep on the couch last night!

First was an unexpected visit from a college friend that was trying to get to Austin for the weekend flying standby...however while she made it Dallas making it to Austin was not so easy. After 6 hours in the DFW airport she called it quits and had a family friend pick her up until Sunday when she tried again. The good thing about this was the Rene and I got to go have a few drinks with her Friday night.

Saturday of course was our long awaited Hallo-wine Trail which was lots of fun, food, and wine!

We also looked and saw that there was a vineyard down the road which was not on the trail so we packed up and went over to the Delaney Vineyard to take their tour and tasting to round out the day. It was beautiful and they have a fully functional winery on site so lots of events through the year so hopefully we will be able to make it back there for something else!

Saturday evening we decided to head over to the Country Club and grab some drinks at the Halloweek Party....while our costumes were super cute, we didn't win the cash prizes....maybe next year! The weekend rounded out with our trip to the new Cowboys stadium for the Cowboys vs. Jags game. We decided to show our Texas support and wear Cowboys gear (even though it was hard!) but even our support didn't result in a Cowboys win. All in all it was a great weekend now we just need to sleep and get some rest! We aren't as young as we used to be!
