Welcome!

This little blog started on our wedding website, which kept family and friends up to date on the planning and details. Of course this is where we will provide all of the recaps of the wedding and everything after. We look forward to keeping family and friends up to date on our lives here in Texas and all of the adventures we share as newlyweds!

Weekend of Crafts-Revamp old heels

Everyone has a pair, the heels that have seen better days and are looking old and beaten from too many nights out?  The heels that you can't really wear unless they are completely covered up because they look that bad?

Well worry no more!  I found a great idea to transform you not so classy heals into something a little like this  from a blog called Wobisobi that does lots of projects and re-styles
(her blog lists how she did this as well)

Here's what you'll need:

Pair of heels
Mod Podge
Glitter
Paint Brush
Cup for mixing

Start by mixing Mod Podge and Glitter into a cup so that you have a pretty heavy glitter mixture

Then start applying a thin coat to shoes (be sure to allow each coat to dry completely).

Don't worry this will dry white.
(Midway through the drying process of coat #5)

Keep adding coats until your shoes have the desired amount of glitter on them, I did about 6 coats total (with the help of Rene).

And here's the finished product!  Just in time for a great NYE party if you're going to one!
Next up I finally found clothes pins to make my Christmas Card Wreath for next year!

To Dos for the Weekend

I know it's New Years weekend-but lets be honest....between working and school Rene and I really just look forward to lazy weekends and this is just like the rest!  Though we did grab 2 bottles of bubbles to celebrate the new year.  Fun fact--enough New Years Eve back at UCF was really the start of our relationship when we rang in the new year together in 2006! So this marks the 6 year mark of our relationship too!

Anyhow...I've created a bit of a crafty to do list of things that I want to make/try this weekend.

First and foremost if you remember a previous post Pinteresting Thursday on a Friday I had 2 items that I wanted to make. 1. the cape and 2. the little Christmas trees made from holiday cards--both of these will be made this weekend (hopefully)...

Next up is a little treat for New Years eve....Pizza Monkey Bread...yes another Pinterest find!

Doesn't it look tasty?

I'll also be trying my hand at homemade pasta tonight compliments of my new pasta maker from Rene!
Get ready for some follow up posts this weekend about all these great little creations!
Happy Friday!

Getting Back on Track

Well after a successful weekend it's back to work on Monday (a very dreary Monday)....

As mentioned on Saturday I completely forgot my camera....but this little pic that Kim took will have to do for the time being, the green dress was a big success!
I promise there are more pictures that her sister in law took with a nice camera vs. phone so I'll be sure to get copies!

Have a great Monday!

It's Friday!!

It’s Friday Whooo-hoo! Tomorrow I get to take a little overnight trip to Atlanta to celebrate the engagement of my good friend and sorority sister Kimberly!

She’ll be getting married in April and I am honored to be a bridesmaid.

While I wish I could stay longer than 1 night with work and school it’s just not possible however it will be a wonderful time I am sure! And what’s better? I got to upgrade my flight tomorrow morning to business class-gotta love starting the morning off with free drinks and free checked luggage! It's so sad that in November AirTran won't be flying from Dallas-Fort Worth anymore, there goes my cheap first class flights!

Now if I could just figure out what to wear for the engagement party…I’ve narrowed it down to 2 dresses….the gray one doesn’t look great on a hanger but super cute when it’s actually on (I wore it to our Christmas party last year but I don’t have ANY pictures!) and then the green one still has the tags on it, I haven’t had a chance to wear it yet so this would be a

perfect opportunity!!

Fall Fashion

With the fall weather this morning it was time for another cool weather inspired outfit!

Skirt with belt from H&M, Perfect Long Sleeve T-shirt from JCrew and Scarf (can't remember where this even came from)...and of course riding boots (not pictured).

I love getting to wear new outfits as the seasons change!!

Cold Outside--but not "really"

There’s a little chill in the air today in Dallas. I walked outside today planning on throwing on a sundress since it had been in the 90’s still but was surprised to see that it was only about 65 degrees outside—that means fall clothes!!

So I changed out my ballet flats for boots and threw on a belt and cardigan and was ready to go!

**Not having Rene at home to help with pictures is no fun! I have to rely on the self portrait in the mirror-also bathroom lighting is not very flattering at all!**

Everyone should have at least one pair of riding boots or flat boots for the fall! They give your summer dresses a second life!

Here’s hoping this weekend is cooler too since Rene and I plan to go over to Grapevine for Grapefest on Saturday. We haven’t been there for 2 years but the first year it was super hot and still a ton of fun! I am praying for a little bit cooler weather for sure for a relaxing afternoon-we could sure use it!

Missoni at Target Uber Fail in Planning

Talk about poor planning on Target's part in releasing the much anticipated Missioni for Target line. The adorable collaboration with the Italian fashion house Missoni was meant to be a big release but Target hyped up the product and didn't plan at all for the release leaving many (including me) quite upset.

The website crashed before I even got up this morning and was down all day (I tried at around 5:30am but did eventually get to check out a few things this afternoon)....the stores had people picking up 2 and 3 cart loads at a time...and these people were talking about how they were going to sell it on Ebay for 300% mark ups! It's a bit absurd to pay $200+ for a $29.99 Target pair of ballet flats even if they are super cute!
I attempted to see if luck was on my side at lunch today and sadly I walked out completely empty handed after stopping at 3 different Targets.

PS just in case you find a pair you can send them my way! Because I love them!

All of the DFW area is completely sold out, I did manage to get one piece online, though I have no idea if it will actually fit when I get it...but I am a big fan of the maxi dresses for the fall season so I was willing to take the risk.

It does have a cardigan shell that matches but it was completely sold out just like pretty much everything else online.

I do have Rene making a special trip to Target while he's outside of San Antonio this week to see if since he's in a small town they might have anything left.

The worst part of all this....not even the stores know if they are getting re-stocked or if they are when or what it will be.

Anyone able to snag any of these cute items or no luck like me?
