On October 16, 2010, I will join thousands of others playing a part in the annual Komen Dallas Race for the Cure®. It is likely you know someone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer perhaps you or your spouse, a relative, coworker, neighbor or friend someone in your life's circle who has heard the words, "You have breast cancer." Everyone has been touched in some way.
A diagnosis of breast cancer affects more than just the patient. When someone we love is diagnosed, we all are affected. Families work doubly hard to keep homes running smoothly while the patient travels the road of breast cancer treatment. Businesses struggle, not only to support their coworker, but also to fill gaps in productivity.
I have been participating in the Race for the Cure for 7 years now -- due in part to the exposure that I had in college with my soroity with Komen thought Zeta Tau Alpha. I have participated in the Race for the Cure in 3 different states (Florida, with amazing friends and sorority sisters. Virginia and Texas with my amazing boyfriend/fiance and for the first time this year Husband!).
