Welcome!

This little blog started on our wedding website, which kept family and friends up to date on the planning and details. Of course this is where we will provide all of the recaps of the wedding and everything after. We look forward to keeping family and friends up to date on our lives here in Texas and all of the adventures we share as newlyweds!

New Fave Find!

I made the best "discovery" ever last night! Until recently I never even looked at the on demand stuff with our cable, but then Rene and I got addicted to True Blood and had to add HBO and are working towards catching up on Season 3 since I cannot yet buy it on DVD….

Well last night since I postponed going to the gym because Glee was on with special appearance of Miss B. Spears…by the time it was over I just had no motivation to head to leave the apartment. This is when I found Exercise TV -- On Demand!

I was so excited! I love yoga but can never get to a class because of the awful Dallas traffic after work and sometimes the early Saturday classes just don't make me happy so I've got the best of both worlds now! I can do yoga via on demand any time of the day and it's not the cheese-ball type DVD Yoga instructors its actually pretty nice.

Of course there are tons more to try including Jillian Michaels, and Kendra's workouts..such a nice change from the typical cardio workouts at the gym!

And its always nice to get away from the grunting, yelling men that think they can lift more weight than they really can and enjoy a workout in peace!

The Good and Bad

As I woke up this morning to 54 degree weather I have realized that the fall weather has officially arrived to Dallas, Texas.

With that, comes both the good and the bad I have decided. The good is that the weather is comfortable enough to walk the dog even at noon without worrying that he is going to overheat, and without me being a sweaty mess. Also the fact that in the morning before I head to work at my hair does not fall completely flat as soon as I walk out the door. Not to mention I am not sweating to death in pants for work, or every time I get into the car.

The fall clothes this year are super cute, and I love that dark purples, rose, olive green, browns and gray colors are "in" this year. And of course I bought the cutest pair of grown riding boots this year which pair great with jeans--just waiting around to be able to wear them!

The apartment is filled with the smell of my pumpkin pie candle and its cool enough to sit on the patio with my Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte and do homework!

However, there is the bad. First and foremost the ragweed is awful this time of year and I feel like I am sneezing non-stop nose running, and watery eyes…

The morning is a bit too chilly for me even with a sweater but I'll have to deal. The leaves don't always change colors here though which is a bit sad. This also means no more time to try to lay out and I start to rely on self tanners and bronzers to make me not look like a complete zombie.

And of course that means that winter really is just right around the corner which I do not like. Hopefully we won't have feet of snow this year….

Nonetheless, the good outweigh the bad for now in terms of fall's arrival, so pull on your sweaters and tweed pants (which are also a must have item this year), and welcome fall and all that it brings!

Have a great week!

It's Officially College Football Time

I am looking forward to the weekend this week more than normal. The week got a little well rather a lot awful as of yesterday....so it's time to shut the bad out for the week!

Rene comes home tonight after being out of town for work, I only have a little homework to get done, and we might head up to Addison Oktoberfest this weekend.

Not only that but it gets better because college football started last week!

After watching the wonderful game last week between OSU and UM and watch OSU beat Miami (so sorry Fern for your loss)...Good old UCF lost (so sad)...I am looking forward to another week of getting to watch UCF!

The alumni chapter here will be heading to a local bar to watch the game this Saturday night...all is all it is shaping up to be a good weekend with some relaxation for once!

Have a great weekend!

Join the Fight!

As the world's leading breast cancer organization, Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is committed to ending breast cancer forever. On October 16, 2010, I will join thousands of others playing a part in the annual Komen Dallas Race for the Cure®. By making a donation on my behalf, you are supporting local breast cancer screening, treatment, education and outreach along with international research that will lead us to a world without breast cancer.

It is likely you know someone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer perhaps you or your spouse, a relative, coworker, neighbor or friend someone in your life's circle who has heard the words, "You have breast cancer." Everyone has been touched in some way.

A diagnosis of breast cancer affects more than just the patient. When someone we love is diagnosed, we all are affected. Families work doubly hard to keep homes running smoothly while the patient travels the road of breast cancer treatment. Businesses struggle, not only to support their coworker, but also to fill gaps in productivity.

I have been participating in the Race for the Cure for 7 years now -- due in part to the exposure that I had in college with my soroity with Komen thought Zeta Tau Alpha. I have participated in the Race for the Cure in 3 different states (Florida, with amazing friends and sorority sisters. Virginia and Texas with my amazing boyfriend/fiance and for the first time this year Husband!).
My goal is to raise $200 this year.

Please help me reach that goal with your financial support. Online donations are simple, and the site is secure. Please go to my fundraising page and make a tax-deductible donation online at http://www.komen-dallas.org/site/TR/Race/General?px=1412781&pg=personal&fr_id=1050

Thank you so much for your help and support!

Florida or Texas?

As I sit here this morning, with my pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks I realize that fall has officially arrived, at least as far as I'm concerned. The arrival of the Pumpkin Spice Latter signifies the end of summer for me.

Yet as the bottom 3 inches of my pants are wet, and my hair is a mess from the wind and hurricane/tropical store winds I realize there there is little different from Florida and Texas.

We have been dealing with the tropical storm/depression since late on Sunday and the rain isn't letting up any time soon and the "fall weather" means below 100 degrees outside. Here I was thinking that we moved away from Florida a few years ago but apparently I was wrong.

Now if only there was a beach or coastline in site.....

We’re planning a Paw-ty!

That’s right we are getting ready to plan little Stitch’s very first birthday party. Rene thinks that I am a bit crazy but I figure why not? We are looking to have a little 2 hour puppy birthday party with his little doggie friends (and their owners of course).

It won’t be anything too big but the place where we board Stitch has patio areas that we have rented out for a Saturday late afternoon and they also have a wine and beer bar so that the adults have something to enjoy while the puppies play.

Now I just need to finish up the invitations! (the start of the invite above) And of course make sure that the peanut butter puppy cake is ordered….let the party planning begin!
